*Abstract:

Quantum magnetometry based on atomic spins has made breakthroughs in recent years for its magnetic sensitivity, bandwidth and energy resolution, which enables the searching for very weak signals originating from new physics phenomena beyond the standard model of particle physics. In this talk, I will explain the basic principle of alkali-noble gas atomic magnetometry and its advantages. Then I will report our latest results on searching for axion dark matter and exotic spin-dependent forces. Finally, I will introduce a new magnetometry method that we have developed based on levitated ferromagnetic particles, which has the potential to achieve even higher performance.

*Profile

Dr. Wei Ji is a postdoc researcher at the Helmholtz Institut Mainz in Germany, where he works on precision magnetometry using atomic spins. He received his PhD from Tsinghua University in 2019. His research interests include searching for new physics beyond the standard model, such as dark matter and exotic spin-dependent forces. He has published several papers as the first or corresponding author in prestigious journals, such as [Physical Review Letters] (3 papers), [Nature Communications] (1 paper), and [Physical Review D] (1 paper). He also serves as a referee for these journals.
